Poem: 'Out of the Dark'
Out of the Dark, into the light, Walls damp and glistening, Water dripping, ripping, Gushing and splashing, Forming deep dark caverns and pools, Stone being eroded and carved, Shapes sculpted and formed, By subterranean rivers and rain. The bowels of the earth, Wet, dark, and dank, Dripping water and eerie sounds echo, Shapes and forms emerging, Creeping, hiding, lurking in the shadows, Some, just beyond sight, Are they imagined? Are they real? Fleeting glances between darkness and the light, What we see are tricks of the mind, These Limestone formations are hidden jewels, Of Stalactites and Stalagmites, Drip stones and flow stones ignite, Oozing with earth colours and tones, These are our great gift from nature, Formed over millions of years, Illuminated by light. - Carl Taylor |
